30 DAYS OF THANKSGIVING- Day 23-24

Day 23- I am thankful for everyone currently serving in the military.

Several of our FedEx pilots are also military personnel. They go in and out of MIL (military leave) all the time. Yesterday, one of my few phone calls was from an employee who is currently in Active Duty in Afghanistan. As we were finishing our conversation, he wished me and my family a Happy Thanksgiving. I thanked him for serving our country and wished him a Happy Thanksgiving as well. He, then, proceeded to thank me and made the statement that they were going to try to find some turkey an dressing to eat. It totally made me realize the true meaning of Thanksgiving and that I have so much to be thankful for.

So an extra-special thanks to military personnel, especially those who are away from friends and family. We are able to eat way too much food and watch football and nap in peace because of the men and women fighting for us.

Day 24- today I am thankful for my niece (Claire) and nephew (Harrison).

I decided I would run the Turkey Trot today, so I was a bit late getting to my parent's house. When I walked in, Claire immediately ran to me and gave me a big hug. Then, she wanted me to hold her. We watched the end of the Thanksgiving Day Parade and Claire just sat in my lap. Then, Claire saw me slide Harrison down the handrail on the stairs. I used to do this with her, so then she wanted to slide her baby doll down the rail. "Aunt Amanda, watch this. Aunt Amanda, watch this." The "babies" are growing up so fast and it has been so much fun being the "auntie!" After lunch, Claire again said "I want Aunt Amanda to hold me." I guess that's what I get for laughing at her. Speeding time with my niece and nephew has been such a joy!

Happy Thanksgiving to all!!!!!

Until next time...BE THANKFUL
