SUNDAY SABBATH

Well....today has been interesting, to say the least. I was supposed to teach Sunday School this morning, but there were a few snafus in obtaining the lesson. I finally received it by email around 9:30 Saturday night, which left little time to prepare. But hey, it's all good...it's definitely not the first time I've had to wing a lesson.

With little-to-no preparation, I had every intention of arriving at church a little early to read over the lesson one more time. That plan would have worked, except everybody in Cordova who owns a bicycle was riding it this morning. The road I take to get from my house to church is mostly two lane with a lot of curves, making it very difficult to pass bikers. Needless to say, I was late to church. I managed to get through the lesson and hopefully the girls got at least one point.

So, after church, we were going out to lunch, as usual. My parents had already discussed where to meet and made the plan. I ask my mom where we're going as she's walking out the door. She tells me "the new Mexican place by our house." Now, in Collierville there are about 5 Mexican restaurants and they're all pretty close to our house. Since my dad mentioned La Perla Tapatia last night, that's where I assumed my mom was telling me to go. I mean, it is the newest Mexican restaurant in Collierville. I get there and am thinking it's odd that my mom's car is not in the parking lot, especially since she left before me. But, I figure it just took her a while to walk my grandmother to the car, somebody probably stopped her in the parking lot to chat, and she drives slower than me....no big deal. After a few minutes and no sign of my mom, I start calling her phone. Of course she doesn't have it with her so she doesn't answer. After about 20 minutes of waiting, I'm starting to get majorly frustrated. My dad finally calls me and tells me he's on his way. I double check with him to make sure I'm at the right place. He says yes and that he's on his way. Now, I'm beyond confused and ask him why Mom and the rest of the crew aren't there. He gets confused too and says he will call her. I tell him there's no need because I've been trying to call for the past 20 minutes and she's not answering. So, he decides he'll drive through the parking lot at La Hacienda just to make sure they're not there. Sure enough he sees her car in the parking lot and tells me that's where they are. Now, I have to apologize to the waiter and pay for my tea. Luckily I hadn't ordered any appetizers while I was waiting. I make my way back to La Hacienda to eat lunch. I'm so frustrated I can't say anything when I get there (if I said something it would not have been nice). Anyway, we finally get to eat and I become happier with some food in my belly. When we finish eating, the waitress comes over and tell us somebody has already paid for our meals (we always see people we know when we got out-to-eat). She gives us the ticket with the man's name and number, and immediately my dad calls him to thank him. It's nice to know there are still angels in the world today.

The lesson I learn from the whole situation above: 1)Random acts of kindness do not go unnoticed and truly touch people's lives and 2)You should keep your cell phone with you so people can get in touch with you in emergency situations. Thanks "Mr. who bought my lunch" for the meal.

After lunch, it was nap time. When my allergies are acting up, all I want to do is lay down and sleep. After the nap, I had to run an errand at Wolfchase mall- big mistake. Now, I remember why I hate going to the mall area. The good news is, Bath and Body Works has their hand soap on sale. Buy 7 for $20...incredible. I stocked up. However, my allergies were acting up so bad I couldn't even smell the flavors. So, I have no idea what my soaps smell like. Oh well. To make-up for having to go to Wolfchase I stopped my Sheridans and got a Wedding Cake Concrete. It was basically ice cream mixed with cake....pretty tasty.

Until next time...HONOR THE SABBATH AND KEEP IT HOLY
