CLASSIC MO-RON ENCOUNTER

Thursday at work was a little different. It was payday (since we're closed today for Independence Day). But, there were also several people out of the office (middle of summer, holiday weekend, etc.). About 3:00 the phone rings and the conversation goes something like this:

First, meet the characters: MS* (co-worker), AGD* (me, duh), and Jenny Craig* (employee)
*note the names have been changed to protect the ignorant

Here goes:

MS: AGD, Jenny Craig is on line 6 for you
AGD: umm, ok..."this is AGD, may I help you"
Jennny Craig: HUH
AGD: this is AGD, may I help you
Jenny Craig: who is this?
AGD: this is AGD, is there something I can help you with
Jenny Craig: was I just talking to you?
AGD: no ma'am, I was just told I had a call on line 6
Jenny Craig: I was just talking to you for about 4 minutes
AGD: no ma'am, but is there something I can help you with
Jenny Craig: HUH? I was just talking to AGD
AGD: what is this call regarding?
Jenny Craig: I was talking about my taxes on my check
AGD: oh, you were probably talking to MS, is there something I can help you with
Jenny Craig: HUH?
AGD: did you have a question about your paycheck
Jenny Craig: yea, I was wondering about my taxes. Why are they taking out Social Security and Medicare taxes?
AGD: (first, this what I'm thinking in my head: have you ever worked before in your life?!?!?!)
(this is what I actually say) yes ma'am, everyone who works in America pays Social Security and Medicare taxes
Jenny Craig: oh, ok
AGD: ok, is there anything else I can help you with?
Jenny Craig: umm, no
AGD: thank you, bye

I was so blown away by the conversation, I didn't really know what to say after that. I mean, really, has this person ever worked in her life? Every American has to pay taxes!!! It's one of those things, that's so not negotiable. Ahhhh, some of the conversations I have on the phone...I should write a book.
