Ah, the Super Bowl..a night when even non-sports fans will watch a football game (or at least the commercials). The only two people on the planet I know who do not have the game on, not even for the commercials, are my friends Matt and Angela. I'm trying my darnest to get them into sports but they are having none of it. *sigh*
I'm so cool that I usually go and hang out with my parents and their friends. Ok, I admit it, I really love spending time with the Pertigrew's, Cournoyer's, Pence's, LaRose's, and Durbin's. If nothing else it will always be a time of unlimited food and laughs!
I really did not have a vested interest in either team this year. That being said, I was rooting for the Patriots. Let it be written for all the web to see...I am NOT a Tom Brady fan by any means. Dare I say, I don't even think he's very good eye candy. To me, he's just an arrogant pretty boy.
Back to my point...I wanted the Patriots to score and win by field goals only. The kicker for the Pats, Stephen Goskowski, played college ball at Memphis. So there you go- I wanted my boy "Gotti" to get a ring!!
As everyone, except Matt and Angela, knows the Patriots did not pull out the win. Gisele Bundchen, Tom Brady's significant other, blames Brady's teammates on the Patriots loss. Oh Gisele, have I got some words for you...
Here are my "those who can't play, coach" comments:
In the 4th quarter, Tom Brady is too proud to take a sack. Instead of taking a sack, throwing the ball away, or opting for a short pass for no yards gained, Brady attempts a 55-yard pass to Gronkowski. Dear Brady, Gronkowski is injured. He can't run to catch the ball! Instead, Chase Blackburn, a linebacker for the Giants, intercepts. Congrats Brady, you probably just lost the game for your team. Oh, but wait, the Pats will get a second chance...The Giants' Bradshaw makes what could have been a huge error. Rather than taking a knee and keeping the ball in Giants possession, he finished the play with a touchdown. This is where mistake #2 by Brady comes in. He does not have much time on the clock. In this case you would think Brady would throw the ball down the side so the receiver can run out of bounds and stop the clock. This would give the Pats time to set up their field position and make a smart play. It's 1st and 10, and Brady's genius self throws the ball right down the middle. Incomplete pass and the clock is still running. Obviously, Brady does not learn from his mistakes...it's 2nd and 10 and the does the exact same thing.
So, Gisele, I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one. I'm pretty sure that Brady DID have some responsibility in the Patriots loss this time. Looks can only get you so far but they do not produce Super Bowl rings.
Until next time...GO GOTTI, WAY TO REPRESENT MEMPHIS
