The current show at the Orpheum is Million Dollar Quartet. It's the story of the one night that Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Elvis Presley, and Johnny Cash were together at Sun Studios in Memphis. It was a fantastic show!!
I was especially looking forward to the show because I personally knew Carl Perkins. He was a member of our church when we lived in Jackson. I vividly remember talking to him at church. He also used to come out and watch the men's softball games. My dad and his son-in-law both played on the team. I also remember when my brother and I did a photo shoot with him for a calendar that was sold to benefit the Center for Abused Children. And finally, I remember driving by his house every Christmas to see the elaborate lights they had on their house.
Million Dollar Quartet definitely spotlights the great music that was Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Elvis Presley, an Johnny cash.
Until next time...ROCK 'N ROLL IS HERE TO STAY
